This Miyabi cutting board Hinoki 35 x 20 cm is the perfect base for all your chopping needs. After all, a good cutting board makes your knives perform better, and that’s exactly what this board does. Your high-quality kitchen knives can be used to their full extent on this board. This is all thanks to the special Hinoki wood, a cypress wood that is only found in Japan. Stylish and also super functional.
Hinoki wood is an excellent choice of material for this cutting board. This type of wood is lightweight and relatively soft. As a result, the board protects the cutting edges of your (Miyabi) knives. This wood also has natural antibacterial and self-cleaning properties. The board is also water-resistant. It’s not dishwasher-safe, but it is easy to clean by hand. What more could you ask for?
The Miyabi cutting board has a juice groove on one side. This collects any juices that are released while chopping, so they don’t end up on your kitchen worktop. The other side is totally flat, and because it doesn’t have feet, this side can also be used for cutting.
## Cleaning the cutting board
To make sure your board stays in great shape maintenance is key! Fortunately, this isn’t as time consuming as you might think. Clean the board after use by rinsing it off under the tap. Afterwards dry it properly. Never put the board in the dishwasher! Place it upright (or hang it) to make sure it dries properly.
## Adding oil to your board
A wooden cutting board needs to be maintained. To make sure it stays in great shape, we recommend adding oil to both sides of the board. It makes cleaning the board easier, the wood won’t dry out and it also makes sure scratches are less visible. When adding oil to a cutting board it is best if you use a flavourless and odourless oil. Almond or grapeseed oil, for instance. (Please note: we don’t recommend using almond oil if you are allergic to nuts). White mineral oil is also a good option, but we recommend [Eden Cutting Board Oil]( /en/pt/-eden-essentials-mineral-oil-for-wooden-cutting-boards-120-ml.htm). Do not use olive oil because it gets sticky and dirty. Something you wish to avoid, of course. You need to add oil to your board approx. once a month.
