The blades of the [Eden Essentials knives](/en/ct/eden-essentials.htm) is made from X50CrMoV15 steel. A type of steel often used by many renowned brands. The steel can handle rust and is easy to sharpen. The blade of the Eden Essentials knives is thin over the entire width of the blade. As such the cutting resistance is remarkably low for a western knife. This means it is easy to use.
## Handle of the Eden Essentials knives
The classic handle feels great in hand. The knife’s blade runs all the way through the handle, which is known as a full-tang construction. This classic German handle – to be recognized by the three rivets – is made from polyoxymethylene. A sustainable, hard plastic. The material is easy to clean.
## Easy maintenance
Each knife needs to be sharpened in time. Fortunately this is a piece of cake for this steel. Quickly moving your knife over a [sharpening steel](/en/ct/sharpening-steel.htm) or [sharpening stones](/en/ct/sharpening-stones-and-whetstones.htm) is a piece of cake. To make sure the knife stays sharp, the edge should never come in contact with other knives. You also make sure your knives stay sharp longer by not using them on cutting boards that are harder than the steel of the blade. Think of cutting boards made from glass, porcelain or stone. Always use cutting boards made from wood or plastic.
The Eden Essentials kitchen knives are dishwasher proof, but we recommend washing them by hand. As such the material is not affected and you will enjoy your knives even longer. Putting them in the dishwasher once is not a problem. If you do this more often, however, the detergents can affect the hardened steel and plastic. With rust stains on the blade and dull handles as a possible result. In addition, it is possible that the knife could come into contact with other hard items in the dishwasher. This could damage the edge.
